A Night at The Opry

May 10 | Posted by: The Chuck Wagon Gang

On May 5, 2016 the Chuck Wagon Gang performed at the Ryman auditorium as guests of Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers on the Opry Country Classics program.  What started out as a "routine performance" quickly turned into a touching, memorable evening which the Gang will not soon forget.  Soon after arriving at the Ryman, the Gang was invited into the Gatlins' dressing room to meet Larry's parents, Curley and Billie Gatlin.  The meeting quickly turned into an impromtu jam session of multiple Chuck Wagon Gang songs like "Jesus Hold My Hand", "Echoes From the Burning Bush", and "On the Jericho Road."  Also participating in the jam session was Gospel music writing legend and bass singer (and close friend of Larry Gatlin) Bill Gaither.  After the Gang's performance, Larry requested they remain on the Ryman stage as he invited his parents (along with his brothers Steve and Rudy) to the microphone.  With the help of the Gatlin family, the Gang recreated the dressing room jam session for the Ryman audience by singing "Jesus Hold My Hand" once more.  The song's conclusion was met with deafening applause, with many in the audience standing to their feet to express their enthusiastic appreciation.  The Chuck Wagon Gang felt truly blessed to experience the honor of participating in such a heartwarming evening.
